Since 2016 I have been accompanying the initiatives of the cultural cooperative Lavrar o Mar, especially the projects “Lavrar o Mar – As Artes no Alto da Serra e na Costa Vicentina” and “Lavrar o Mira e a Lagoa – As Artes Além Tejo”. The impacts of these initiatives on the cultural dynamics of these scarcely populated regions has been huge and indelible. One of the anchor projects is the Straw Theatre, beautiful pieces of ephemeral architecture designed by Pedro Quintela – O Espírito do Lugar, which are simultaneously sculptures and a performance hall. This selection of images of works, assembly and other less “visible” moments is my way of paying tribute to all those who have been actively involved. My way of working, whether with straw, with rocks, with beautiful mammals, with less tangible materials... is always the same and the splashes of dust, fragments of hay, water, snow... are just part of the seasoning.
